HISTORY OF ROSE & THISTLE LODGE

ROSE & THISTLE INSTALLATION & TEAM VISIT

On Wednesday 8th April, 2009, Rose & Thistle Mark Lodge welcomed the Rt.W.Provincial Grand Master and his provincial team to their Installation. The Lodge room was packed with 87 brethren who saw the installation of Bro.Paul Ledson into the chair by the IPM, W.Bro.Alan Lloyd in an excellent manner. Earlier the Worshipful Master, Bro.Harry Fairhurst had welcomed Rt.W.PGM to the lodge shortly after he had been elected as Honorary Member of the Lodge. Bro.Paul Ledson was outgoing Junior Warden and had taken the place of Bro.Peter Ball, Senior Warden, who due to his current illness felt he could not take the chair but was present to give his support to the new master.

Shortly after installing the Worshipful Master, W.Bro.Alan Lloyd was taken ill and rushed to hospital. I am glad to say that W.Bro.Alan was released from hospital late that night. The efforts he had made on the night coupled with having battled with a heavy cold all week must have taken its toll but we wish him well and trust he will soon fully recover.

When the ceremony resumed, the Worshipful Master presented 4 cheques to the PGM of £400 to West Lancs Mark Charity Fund, £100 to Wigan Hospice, £1,000 to Pemberton Building Fund and £80 to the Mark Centenary Gala Festival.

The Festive Board was excellent occasion and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

Below is the Provincial Team in all their glory.
