REMEMBRANCE DAY

On Remembrance Sunday, 9th November 2008 The Mark Master Masons who regularly meet at Garston in the South end of Liverpool, requested their Special Representative, V.W.Bro. Peter Owen, PGJO, to lay a wreath on their behalf at the Cenotaph in Long Lane at Garston to remember the “Fallen Mark Brethren” of all conflicts since 1914.

Weather conditions were absolutely atrocious but the brethren persisted in the downpour to commemorate “Remembrance Sunday” on behalf of West Lancashire Mark Masons. Other wreaths were being laid throughout the Province. Our Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master, Peter Connolly had very kindly arranged the purchase of standard “Royal British Legion” wreaths and W.Bro. R. K. Lamb from Blackpool made and inserted the centre boss showing that the wreath was laid for West Lancashire Mark Masons.

After the laying of the wreath, the brethren, their families and friends retired to Garston Masonic Hall to “dry out” and have lunch. Some photographs were taken of the brethren who were present along with other Masons and their families and friends and the photographs shown are a selection taken by the daughter of V.W.Bro. Peter Owen.

It is hoped that next year the ceremony will be repeated and possibly with better weather conditions more will attend and show their respects to our gallant service boys and girls who have given the ultimate for and on our behalf.
