W. Bro. D. John Forster P.G.J.D.

The Provincial Grand Master’s Special Representative
for the Blackpool & Fylde District of Mark and Royal
Ark Mariner Lodges. The area he covers is that of
Fleetwood in the north Cleveleys, Poulton-Le-Fylde,
Blackpool and St. Anne’s in the south and consists
of 7 Mark and 3 Royal Ark Mariners Lodges.

John was Provincial Junior Warden in 2008, became
the Special Representative in May 2010 and in June
of that year was delighted to received his first
appointment to Mark Grand Rank, that of Grand
Steward. He was promoted to G. Junior Deacon in 2014.

John was born in Blackpool and started his working
life as a retail jeweller, in 1968 married Sue, when
they moved to West Sussex to manage a jeweller’s
shop at Bognor Regis. In 1976 moved back to

Blackpool to a change of career as a baker with his
brother with both retail and wholesale outlets.

In 1979 they purchased a small hotel and after
making many extensions were lucky enough to
retire in 2001 at a very early age.

In his youth John cycled and played rugby both league and union and since his retirement has taken up
“fair weather” golf (badly).

John and Sue have 2 daughters and a son and 6 grandchildren, 3 boys and 3 girls and so their families play
a very large part in their lives. As well as their family commitments they have a passion for their second
home in the sunshine of Tenerife and as much time as possible is spent there, Masonic duties allowing!

Early retirement has given John the opportunity of devoting much of his time to Freemasonry and is a
member of a good number of Orders, but none enjoyed more than the Mark Degree.
