Brethren, | ||||
| What a tremendous success Provincial Grand Lodge was. The Deputy Grand Master Rt W Bro Prov Denovan Wilson travelled over from Durham to be with us on the day and insisted on meeting as many of the West Lancashire Brethren as possible by moving around the tables at the banquet following the meeting. I was with him the following week and he commented on the great enjoyment the day brought him. | |||||
| Congratulations to all the Brethren appointed and promoted on the day, enjoy your ranks and remember to many of you this is the start of a continuing Mark journey. To those more senior Brethren receiving the higher honour of Senior or Junior Warden, these ranks are a big thank you from the Province for your services over many years and we hope of many years to enjoy the accolades these ranks bring. |
|||||
| I especially congratulate W. Bro Christopher Butterfield and W. Bro Paul Smedley our new Senior and Junior Provincial Wardens and look forward to them leading the Provincial Team in the coming year. | |||||
| For me it was a very moving day, my last annual meeting as Provincial Grand Master, and I thank everyone for the opportunity I have had to lead our magnificent Province, especially | |||||
| those whose work and contribution to the Provincial Executive have been of the greatest assistance to me in my twelve years in office. | |||||
| I took the decision to retire as from the 10th May next year some time ago and intimated to the Grand Master of my request to retire following celebrating my 50 years as a Mark Mason next April. | |||||
| It brought a very big lump in my throat at the end of my address when the assembled Brethren gave such a spontaneous ovation, taking me some time to recover my composure, I thank you all. | |||||
| But we have a whole year ahead of Team visits and some special occasions and I again renew my call to recruit more of those 5500 Craft Masons in the Province not yet in the Mark Degree . | |||||
| UGLE have said Freemasonry is one Journey. That journey includes the Mark Degree as a pivotal part of the organisation. Let us endeavour to exceed the number of Advancements and Elevations into our Mark and Royal Ark Mariner Lodges. | |||||
| Simply ask your Craft Colleagues “ Are you a Mark Mason.” If they are not invite them to your Lodge festive board, let them feel that special Mark atmosphere. “The Magic of the Mark” and let’s not forget to encourage more of our Mark Brethren to join the Royal Ark Mariner Degree. Raise the bar to more than 50% membership of our Mark Masons. | |||||
| Some of our smaller Lodges are, it cannot be denied, causing concern but and this is a positive BUT just look at Scorton Mark Lodge as your example. | |||||
| They had not had a candidate for some time and the new Secretary took the bull by the horns to instil a more positive attitude into the members to go out a find new members. To date in this Masonic year they have Advanced seven candidates and have two more awaiting Advancement, the moral is if they can do it so can you! | |||||
| Get out there and be positive in order to lift your Lodge to new levels. | |||||
| Make my last year as Provincial Grand Master a memorable one and the best on record. | |||||
| I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at your Lodges over the coming season. | |||||
