History of the Lodge

 
Leyland Mark Lodge No 1002 was consecrated at Leyland Masonic Hall on Saturday 22nd July 1944 by Rt.W.Bro. Major, A.M.Pooley,T.D., Provincial Grand Master assisted by his Deputy and other Acting Provincial Grand Mark Officers. At this meeting it was proposed, seconded and resolved “That Leyland Mark Lodge No.1002 does qualify as a Key Stone Lodge”.

The first Master was W.Bro.Frank Ernest Field Burgess.

The collection for Charity of £10-10-0 was donated to the Mark Benevolent Fund 1946 Festival.

1994 On Thursday 8th September 1994 the Lodge was honoured by the presence of the Assistant Provincial Grand Master W.Bro.Peter Connolly, P.G.S.D., on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Consecration of the Lodge.

The Worshipful Master was Bro. Arthur Rotheram father of W.Bro. W.Bro. J. David Rotheram PAGDC, who is now a P.M. of the Lodge and currentley Charity Steward.Unfortunately, W.Bro.Ian Horroks who was in the Chair in 2009 passed to the Grand Lodge above on the 15th December 2010 in Preston Royal Hospital.

The current Worshipful Master is Bro. Neil McGill who hails from Morecambe, and was Installed in January 2016 by W.Bro. D. W. Poulter. The Lodge has a membership of fifty one Brethren, and is growing.
