Talk of Garnett |
|
Kieron Mullan made his way round Morecambe Bay from Barrow in Furness to Rowly Court, Lancaster to deliver a paper entitled “The Importance of the Mark Degree” written by Fred Lomax.

|
Making an unannounced but most welcome visit to the meeting was APGM Geoff Bury who was greeted by WM Peter Tooze-Froggatt.
The talk by Kieron, which was very well received, included references to the links between the craft, royal arch masonry and the mark degree. This was very topical given what was to follow.
During the risings secretary Chris Larder gave details of correspondence he had had with Geoff concerning an open meeting when non-mark masons would be invited to listen to a talk on the degree. This presentation would also cover the historical and modern links between the three orders.
Geoff expanded on it further and the proposed meeting received a firm backing from those present.

The conversations continued over supper and reached the stage of trying to find a mutually convenient date in the calendar for it. It appears that it may well be a joint meeting between Garnett and Morecambe Mark lodges at Morecambe Masonic Hall.
The necessary impetus and support is there and it is now a simple questions of the logistics.
