Edmund Taylor Royal Ark Mariners Lodge No 296

Christmas meeting Tuesday 16th December 2025 at the Masonic Hall, Adelaide Street, Blackpool.
The Worshipful Commander, Bro. Alan Barnes opened the Lodge at 18.30hrs.
12 members and guests were present.
The Lodge business was worked through in an efficient manner by the Commander, which included a very interesting lecture written and given by WBro. Ray Lamb, about Noah’s Ark and the flood and stories from around the world throughout history about similar events.
The Lodge was closed at circa 19.15hrs and the Brethren retired to the bar for refreshments, prior to joining St. Johns Lodge No 2825 for a joint festive board. The WM being WBro. Bob Bennett, also a member of Edmund Taylor RAM.
Prior to the Festive Board, all the Brethren listened to a very informative and interesting talk given by Rhiannon and Sharon local representatives of “Sam’s Superheroes”. It being a national Charity dedicated to research and support for children and adults affected by Febrile Infection-Related Epilepsy Syndrome (FIRES). Rhiannon and Sharons nephew, Sam, was affected by FIRES and sadly passed away in May 2021. The talk was very informative and outlined the work they do to provide care packages for children to keep them entertained and to take their mind off the trauma of being in hospital.
More information about the Chairty can be found at:
A lively festive board with good food, banter and good craic was then enjoyed by all!
A Fylde coast fiddle was run by Bro. Nick Osbourne, a member of both Lodges, which raised £169, which was topped up by Edmund Taylor RAM Lodge with an additional £100, giving a total of £269 which was donated to FIRES.
Everybody went home happy and with the best wishes for Christmas and the New year from both the Commander and the WM.
