New Walls at Corinthian

Corinthian Mark Lodge No 1052 closed the 2024/25 season with a double advancement at Liverpool Masonic Hall on 24th April. The Master, WBro Adrian Williams opened the Lodge and progressed the items on the summons, which included a successful ballot for two new members.

The Mater then invited WBro Chris Walls to occupy the chair and perform the advancement ceremony. There then came the knock on the door, and everyone got ready, but this was a false alarm, it was just a latecomer. When the next knock came it was then down to the serious business, the two candidates; Bros, Ashton Foat and Kevin Walls, (yes, Chris’s brother), entered and were met in the proper manner by the acting Inner Guard, WBro Alan Ledger, (visitor), who then handed them over to Bro Ray Parr, SD and WBro Jason Hengler, JD for safe keeping.

The first part of the ceremony went off without a hitch; you could not expect anything else with Chris Walls in charge. First candidate to return and run afoul of the Overseers was Kevin Walls, but he was kept safe By Bro Parr. Then it was Ash Foat who had to run the gauntlet of the emboldened Overseers and even more bloodthirsty Wardens. But all was well in the end. Chris then asked his Dad, WBro Steve Walls to assist him in presenting the secrets and signs to the candidates.

Congratulations to all who took part in the ceremony and WBro Chris proved once again that quality will out. With the ceremony over and WBro Adrian Williams back in his rightful seat, WBro Steve Walls who is the PGM’s Rep for the Liverpool group welcomed the Ash and Kevin into the Mark Degree and presented them with the welcome letter from the RWBro Keith Beardmore and a voucher for Provincial Grand Lodge Meeting in Blackpool on 8th May at the Winter Gardens.

Next item was to elect the Master for the ensuing year and this honour went to Bro Ian Hayhurst with WBro John Bruffell hanging on to the treasurers’ role. During the risings the Secretary, WBro Stewart Hyde informed the members that since the last meeting it had been announced that two members of the Lodge had received promotions; WBro Chris Walls is now the Provincial Grand Senior Warden designate and WBro Jorge Perez is the Provincial Grand Junior Warden designate. This news was met with spontaneous applause from all.
Also, during the risings WBro Hyde announced that RWBro Peter Connolly, PPGM who is an honorary member of the Lodge will be celebrating 60 years as a Royal Arch Mason on 15th May.
The Walls are closing in!
This was also greeted with applause and everyone congratulated Peter on this wonderful achievement. We wish to congratulate   Chris and Jorge on their promotions, which they will receive at Blackpool on the 8th May. We also wish Kevin and Ash very many happy years in the Mark Degree.
