However, the first business of the meeting at Wyreside, Garstang was to pay tribute to departed merit in respect of W. Bro. Don Richardson RAMGR who had been called to higher service.

Steven Thackrah acted as warder on the evening but was admitted to be presented with his Grand Lodge Certificate.

Neal’s proposition for membership had been made by Martin Swarbrick and seconded by Stuart Mowbray. The ballot having proved favourable Neal was admitted and elevated into the degree by Worshipful Commander Gowan O’Hagan.

Senior deacon Frank Hoggarth conducted Neal through the ceremony in fine style. It was a delight to have junior deacon Harry Robinson back amongst us following a recent health issue.

Tony Thackrah was called into action in the position of senior warden and explained the steps in a delightful manner.

The evening also saw Martin Swarbrick appointed Commander Elect for the ensuing year.

The meal following, of gammon and chips followed by fresh fruit salad, was very well received. There was the usual bonhomie was a good indicator of the enjoyment of the assembled friends.
