Ulverston Dickensian Festival Continues at Masonic Hall

The renowned Dickensian Festival in Ulverston took place during the daytime
over the weekend 24th and 25th November.

The town was packed with people on both days who
thoroughly enjoyed all the festivities which included
the Funfair, lots of market stalls, food from around
the world, many live acts and entertainment at
various venues in the town and of course many locals
and visitors dressed in Dickensian costume.

The event is now an annual attraction for the town
and draws visitors from all over the North of the
Country.

This year, the Provincial Grand Junior Warden W.Bro.
Russ Greenhow decided that the daytime festivities
should be extended into the evening and organised a
social event (together with his wife Sharon and other
helpers of course) at the Masonic Hall in Ulverston on
behalf of Jubilee Mark Lodge.

The evening consisted of a hotpot supper followed by
entertainment from a local quartet of male singers
named “Voce” who sang many popular classics as well
as some more unfamiliar songs.

The difference in this particular event was that the
supper and social festivities took place in the
Function Room whilst the entertainment took place in
the Lodge Room and was split into three sets
allowing people to return to the Function Room
between each set for a drink, an arrangement which
was very acceptable to all attendees.

The entertainment ended with a superb rendition of
the world famous aria “Nessun dorma” which was
much appreciated by the audience. Following
completion of the entertainment, everyone returned
to the bar to complete the evening.

The event was supported by approximately 75 people
including the PGM W.Bro. Peter Connolly and his wife
Lynne, the Prov.G. Secretary W.Bro. Geoffrey Lee and
his wife Marion, together with many other
distinguished Mark Masons and their ladies and was
thoroughly enjoyed by all.
